How do we want to live together on Earth?
Brussels, 14-15 June 2011
We are concerned about many things, here just a few examples:
Global warming, natural resources shortage and nuclear issues, the revolutions in Egypt, Tunis, Lybia and allover the Arab world, that there is still no federal government in Belgium - will Belgium split up?, whether Turkey should ever join the EU, how one might pursue a career in a 'political' context, or what makes us want to move to another country, what is behind a disease or what makes us split with all of our partners...
The challenging issues in which we deal with many interested and conflicting parties and stakeholders are highly complex. Working personally and professionally in this field is demanding and requires our personal commitment. We often feel that our cognition and mental models are not enough to inform us when taking important decisions.
We invite you to explore these challenges together in a different creative, serious but playful way. You are welcome to practice constellation work in Brussels, this special place where global, European, Belgian and very local and personal issues meet.
Developed from systems theory, systemic constellation work is a powerful approach, which effectively deals with multi-level complexity. It identifies and releases the deep patterns embedded in a conflict or a complex problem. Creative and unimaginable solutions may surface. They are tested. Lessons are drawn from the application to the real life situation whilst in a safe and confidential learning environment. (More on the constellation approach can be found here.)
The accuracy and relevance of information gathered in this knowledge sharing process has proved reliable in thousands of constellations that have been implemented in the last decade in organisational contexts, communities and social systems.
This workshop will:
Explore issues and questions of relevance to you and your professional situation;
Offer you an innovative and effective way to solve and manage current issues and challenges;
Take you through an intense experience over a whole weekend many constellations building on each other.
What is a single Systemic Constellation process?
- It's conducted within a group
- In a relatively short period of time 20 mins - 1,5 hours
- A particular issue or conflict is shared
- The main elements of the situation are identified
- The various relationships and underlying dynamics between these elements are brought to light
- Steps for an effective solution that is within reach of the questioner are surfaced
- Any obstacles that surface are transformed into resources
- Different possible future scenarios are identified and planned
- Possible options can be tested to support decision making processes
This is how it works:
A 'questioner' from within the group positions representatives in the room according to their perception of the situation they want to explore. This forms a 'constellation' - a living map of the issue and its dynamics. We then use our natural human capacity to simultaneously perceive on the physical, emotional and cognitive levels. Group members serve as representatives or mirrors for the dynamics that may be played out in the questionners field. Through this we and especially the questioner identify new and clarifying perspectives around the challenge.
During this workshop you may explore some or all of these roles:
Participant: You are invited to hold questions of our time as they are brought up and allow yourself to be touched by the experience;
Client: Explore an issue for yourself on your development, family, professional outlook, organisational or societal questions, find insights and solutions;
Representative: Lend your sensations and perceptions to help finding new clarity and share your felt sense with the client and the group.
A Warning: You might feel strangely attracted to exploring serious work issues "simply through body sensations." The method takes effect rapidly and the learning tends to be very accurate for yourselves if you are the client of a constellation. You should be open-minded for holistic and somewhat unexplainable routes of inquiry. Research on constellation work has been carried out and is currently under way. For the time being, we do not yet know in detail why and how exactly systemic constellation work works. We simply know that it does.
Who Should Attend: Any engaged person that wonders about the future of our communities, societies or our planet
